How much does it cost to use your app? (Fees)

The Charge apps are free to download from Google Play or the Apple App Store and there are no setup fees, monthly fees, minimum turnover requirements or subscription fees.

When a transaction is processed using Charge for Stripe, a 1% fee will be applied per transaction, in addition to the standard Stripe fees, which vary from country to country and can be found at https://stripe.com/pricing. If you never process any payments via the app and only use it for tracking your Stripe account transactions, that’s completely free.

As there are no setup or ongoing fees with Stripe or with our app, Charge, you only pay fees when you actually make sales, which we think is the way it should be. We hope you’ll find Charge is a convenient, cost-effective way of processing payments on the go, especially when compared to other offerings, many of which charge a larger % of the sale amount or have on-going subscription fees, without having anywhere near the level of functionality available in our apps, like Payment Requests, Terminal Mode, Pre-Auth Payments and Subscription Payments,

Questions regarding a specific charge, refund, payout (if a payout hasn't arrived when expected), a payment dispute or why a payment has been declined.
Account-related issues, including account lockouts, account restrictions or getting access to your account if you have forgotten your login or password.
Using the Stripe Dashboard’s functionality and settings.

When do I get paid? When are payouts processed?

Once you’ve made your first charges with Stripe, your first payout will be initiated, and should post within seven days. Thereafter, all US-based merchants will receive payouts on a rolling two-day schedule. You can read more about this on the official Stripe support article here.

Payout schedules vary slightly for merchants outside of the US. See your country’s payout timing.

You can link your bank account, and set the frequency of these payouts, in your Stripe Dashboard’s Balance page. From there, you can also view all payouts from Stripe to your bank account. To learn more, visit Stripe’s documentation on Receiving Payouts.

How can I send a payment request?

The Payment Request functionality was one of our most-requested features and we’re excited to finally be releasing it. Here’s how to use it:

Tap the + icon and select ‘Request Payment’
Enter the amount, description and either an email address or mobile phone number and tap the ‘Send Payment Request’ button. Emails will be sent automatically, while entering a mobile phone number and then tapping the 'Send Payment Request' button will allow you to select whichever app you would like to share the payment request to. e.g. WhatsApp, Messenger, Skype. If you have entered a mobile phone number and choose to send via a messaging app, be sure to complete the process by selecting the desired messaging app and choosing the person you want to send the Payment Request to, and then tap send, otherwise it will not be sent to them.
Your customer will then receive the request with the details of the payment you have requested. The payment request will be displayed in your list of payments as ‘Pending’ until your customer either provides their payment credentials to complete the payment (it’ll then change to ‘Charged’) or selects ‘Cancel’ (it’ll then display as ‘Cancelled), or the payment request will automatically be cancelled after 7 days if payment is not processed or cancelled before then.

What payment methods are supported? e.g. Visa, Amex, Discover etc

Stripe supports all major credit and debit cards, plus other payment methods. To find out which specific payment methods available in your country, please see Stripe’s Payment Options page and select your country at the page’s bottom-left corner. Here are some examples:

U.S. businesses can accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, Diners Club, and China UnionPay.

Australian, Canadian, European, Hong Kong, and Singaporean businesses can accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

Japanese businesses can accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club.

You can also accept gift and prepaid cards of the above types. You can use Stripe to charge cards of these types from customers anywhere in the world.

Stripe also supports Apple Pay (now supported), Google Pay (now supported), 3D Secure, SOFORT, iDEAL, Giropay, Bancontact, SEPA direct debit, and China’s Alipay, however not all of these are currently available using Charge for Stripe, but may be added in future app updates.

Do your apps support SCA (Strong Customer Authentication)?

Yes, both the Android and iOS versions of Charge for Stripe support the SCA requirements that take effect from September 14th, 2019. You can read more about this below or here.

About SCA Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a new European regulatory requirement to reduce fraud and make online payments more secure. Once SCA goes into effect on September 14, 2019, online payments will require additional customer authentication. Transactions that don’t adhere to the new guidelines may be declined by your customers’ banks. This regulation applies to transactions where both the business and the cardholder’s bank are located in the European Economic Area (EEA).
